ITDR is still a relatively new, emerging and dynamic sector. Whilst numerous vendors over the past 5 years have switched to provide static posture management functions for specific systems (namely Active Directory), the rise of more complex IAM infrastructure - that is often distributed - requires a new cloud native and more agnostic approach to identity threat.
To that end, it is important to understand what capabilities will be needed immediately and in the 18-24 month future. It is important to have a full assessment of the identity, authentication, authorization and governance components already in place within the enterprise and what capabilities they provide with respect to misconfiguration and threat analytics.
From here, a more foundational approach to understanding both the posture management and runtime capabilities that will be needed.
